Understanding Shakespeare is the B.A. thesis project of Stephan Thiel

This is so cool!

Processing is the sweet open source programming language this researcher uses http://processing.org/

Processing is mostly good for visualizing data but there are some people doing some text mining practices with this language… mostly word counts or character counts.

The Shakespeare piece is a graphic design project disguised as a literature project. The maker claims his work is about a new way of reading… which is cool but I think the best part about it is a new way of publishing your research. Why should your dissertation be in times new roman? Why shouldn’t it be a beautiful multi media document?

One Response to Understanding Shakespeare is the B.A. thesis project of Stephan Thiel

Beautiful. What strikes me is how effective it is that we see these images at two removes: as photographs of a lovingly produced paper book … on the pages of which are these images. And then he also turns them into wall-sized prints, which again, conveys this insistence on the physical character of the image.

I kind of might get one of those prints for my office … just to horrify people.
